Turf Technician

Summary

This leadership role provides a full-time salary, dental & benefits package, uniform, golfing privileges, and encourages continuing education with paid association dues and local conferences. It is a role for someone who is looking to learn and develop into an Assistant Superintendent and beyond.

 

Requirements

  • 2-5 years experience in golf course business or related experience

  • Graduate of a recognized turfgrass management program (2 year program an asset)

  • Licensed pesticide applicator, with experience mixing & applying products within IPM guidelines

  • Experience in the safe operation of all golf course maintenance equipment

  • Effective communication skills - listening, understanding and responding

  • Team player with positive attitude

  • Irrigation experience is an asset 

  • Certified chainsaw operator an asset

  • Computer skills are an asset

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records to assist in agronomic decisions.

  • Play a leadership role for all daily activities in addition to leading a weekend team. 

  • Assist in maintaining the irrigation system, pump-house and collaborate with the management team about golf course hydration needs. 

  • Participate in calibrating, applying, scouting and record keeping of the IPM program.  

 

As a senior member of our Course and Grounds team, the Turf Technician is responsible for ensuring that the grounds team is performing their tasks to a high standard. Reporting directly to the Assistant Superintendent, the Turf Tech. will participate and influence the daily activities, care, preparation and maintenance of the golf course.
