Golf Course Superintendent

Picton Golf & Country Club, established in 1907, is an 18-hole Par 72 semi-private golf course measuring 6,200 yards located in Prince Edward County, Ontario. The successful candidate will lead the management and maintenance of all aspects of the golf course and surrounding grounds. Reporting to Board of Directors, the Superintendent is a salaried, full time (year-round) position that can commence early 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement, and oversee a daily maintenance program including cutting greens, tees, fairways and rough, bunker maintenance and daily course setup.
  • Oversee and assist with regular maintenance practices including pesticide and fertilizer application, top dressing, aerification and tree maintenance. Ensure proper records are kept for chemical applications as required by government regulation
  • Manage grounds staff, which includes, scheduling, hiring, and training staff as required.
  • Maintain irrigation system and repair when required. Ensure water usage tracking plan is maintained.
  • Maintain buildings, equipment, and property in a professional manner.
  • Develop annual operating budget for course maintenance and wages.
  • Plan and forecast current and long-term capital needs. 
  • Execute projects and upgrades on time and on budget.
  • Provide ongoing reporting to the Board of Directors
  • Practice and enforce all aspects of the Health & Safety Policy and Ministry of Labour guidelines. 

Successful Candidate will:

  • Possess certification in Turfgrass management or relatable field or have considerable practical experience in the industry.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Have progressive experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
  • Be licensed to apply pesticides and have IPM Agent status.
