ABOUT THE CLUB: Marine Drive Golf Club is a traditional, yet progressive private members golf club, located in Vancouver, British Columbia. This Arthur Vernon Macan designed course opened in 1922, celebrated its centennial year in 2022, and has been proud to have some of Canada’s finest golfers as members. With a young, passionate core of golfers, tournaments are frequent, and standards are high.

ABOUT THE TEAM: Working alongside Golf Course Superintendent Jamie Robb, the Associate Superintendent will be looked upon to oversee the daily operations of the department. This will include working closely with Equipment Manager Anthony D’Onofrio, leading and mentoring two keen, professional, Assistant Superintendents, and growing Interns as part of the Vancouver Turf Internship. The club is building an exciting, passionate team led by energetic COO (GM) John Glendinning.

POSITION OVERVIEW: This individual will be accountable for upholding course standards through the hiring, onboarding, leadership and management of Links department employees and related budgets. Planning, purchasing, scheduling, and executing the application of fertilizers and chemicals will be part of this accountability, as will be ensuring the irrigation system is operating efficiently to meet or exceed expectations. This person will also be required to develop and manage relationships with suppliers (managing inventory levels), contractors, and consultants. In the absence of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Associate Superintendent is expected to make decisions and fill those responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a degree or diploma from a recognized post secondary university or college in a turfgrass related field. Have worked on a golf course for a minimum of five seasons, at least two of which are in a supervisory capacity. They also must possess a desire to become a Golf Course Superintendent in the near future. Have or be able to obtain a BC Landscape Pesticide Applicator Certificate within 90 days of employment will also be required.

UPCOMING IN 2024: Working with prominent, world class Golf Course Designer Rod Whitman, the club is in the midst of completing a state of the art, $3.9 million driving range, and is working towards proposing other golf course projects over the next 5 to 10 years. This is likely to include continuing to upgrade bunkers to Better Billy Bunker, modernizing the irrigation and drainage systems, and renovating tee complexes and cart paths in order to bring Marine Drive back to being the best conditioned course in Western Canada.

COMPENSATION: $90K - $100K+ DOE plus benefits and 5% club matched pension.
