Responsibilities
Turf Management:
- Assist in planning and executing turf management daily maintenance operations including but not limited to cutting greens, pin placements and all other facets of daily course setup.
- Supervise and participate in the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and other turf care products.
- Monitor and manage Rainbird irrigation systems to maintain proper turf hydration.
Crew Management:
- Provide leadership and direction to maintenance staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent to schedule and coordinate daily work assignments.
- Train and mentor team members on best practices and safety procedures keeping Health and Safety in mind.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Work with the equipment manager to ensure the fleet is in optimal condition.
Project Management:
- Assist in the planning and execution of special projects, including course renovations, landscaping enhancements, and drainage improvements.
- Monitor project timelines and quality to ensure successful completion.
Communication:
- Maintain open and effective communication with the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent.
- Collaborate with the turf department team to address member concerns and feedback.
Budget Oversight:
- Assist in budget development and management, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Monitor expenses related to course maintenance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary Turfgrass Management or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with a focus on turf management.
- Knowledge of turfgrass, irrigation systems, and pest control.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to operate and maintain golf course maintenance equipment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have or obtain Pesticide and IPM certification.
