In a region populated by excellent golf courses, South Muskoka Curling & Golf Club is known for exceptional golf with great value. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as an Assistant Golf Superintendent.
Responsibilities:
Training and Coaching:
- Train and coach employees on equipment operation and various tasks related to golf course maintenance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and skill development within the team.
Course Maintenance:
- Ensure the golf course consistently meets the expectations of its members.
- Oversee irrigation repair and maintenance to ensure optimal course conditions.
- Monitor Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices, keeping detailed records.
Chemical and Fertilizer Application:
- Apply chemicals and fertilizers as required, following industry best practices and safety guidelines.
Team Collaboration:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with staff members.
- Act as a team player, excelling at motivating and leading the maintenance team to achieve excellence.
Attention to Detail:
- Demonstrate a keen attention to detail in all aspects of course maintenance, ensuring the highest standards are upheld.
Knowledge of the Game:
- Possess a strong understanding of golf and its impact on course maintenance.
Organizational and Managerial Skills:
- Punctual and organized with strong managerial skills to efficiently oversee day-to-day operations.
Off-Season Ice Maintenance:
- Participate in off-season ice maintenance activities.
Continuous Learning:
- Willingness to take the Class 1 Ice Technician course to enhance skills and qualifications.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in golf course maintenance or related field.
- Strong knowledge of golf course equipment, irrigation systems, and maintenance practices.
- Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
- Ability to motivate and lead a team effectively.
- Attention to detail and commitment to upholding high standards.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry best practices.
- Has graduated with a degree or two-year diploma from a recognized institution in a turfgrass related field.
