After 38 years of success and dedication our current Superintendent, Tim Webb, is hanging up his hard hat in March of 2025. Sunningdale will begin interviews this fall for his replacement, to begin on or about January 1st, 2025. Job Description:
As a Golf Course Superintendent at Sunningdale G&CC, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of our 36-hole (currently) golf course property. Your primary objective will be to ensure the course is maintained to the highest standards, providing an enjoyable and aesthetically pleasing experience for our members and guests. Since 1934 this has been our mission. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive maintenance plans to preserve course quality and turf health.
- Leading a skilled team of groundskeepers and maintenance staff, providing guidance and leadership to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Monitoring course conditions daily, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective measures swiftly as needed.
- Overseeing irrigation systems, fertilization programs, and pest control efforts to promote healthy turf and Club landscapes.
- Collaborating with the management team to plan and execute course renovations and improvement projects.
- Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable practices in course maintenance. Sunningdale is an Audubon certified property for the better part of 2 decades.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in turf management, agronomy, horticulture, or related field.
- Proven experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of turfgrass management practices, irrigation systems, and agronomic principles.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead a team and interact with members and guests.
- Detail-oriented and proactive approach to problem-solving, with a commitment to delivering exceptional course conditions.
- Valid driver's license and pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain).
