The Oakville Golf Club is a prestigious private nine-hole golf facility, located in the heart of Oakville, just a short distance from Lake Ontario. We are the only private golf club in Oakville and celebrated our Centennial year in 2021. Our course is maintained to the highest standard for conditioning and represents an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all levels.  

We are a family oriented club, offering a superb golfing and social experience to 525+ members. Our membership is evenly split between women and men, playing a total of approximately 28,000 rounds a year. Our active Youth Development Program is well attended and our facilities have been laid out with a junior short course to allow children and their parents to play as a family.

The Position

This is a salaried year round management position.  Reporting directly to the General Manager and working closely with various committees of the Board, the Golf Course Superintendent will take responsibility for the oversight of all operations related to the maintenance and improvements of the golf course while creating a positive member experience.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Turf Management from a recognized College or University
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Golf Course Superintendent
  • Valid Ontario Landscape Exterminator Licenses
  • IPM certified agent
  • Toro Lynx experience an asset

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direction for all aspects of maintenance on the golf course.
  • Ensures the maintenance and repair of course equipment is completed
  • Supervising the grounds staff ensuring proper training and all relative health/safety measures are followed.
  • Reporting to and working with the Operations Committee with updates on all golf course matters.
  • Working with regulatory agencies to foster strong relationships and ensure the club is compliant with all policies and procedures.
  • Prepare annual budget for Golf Course operations and capital expenditures.
  • Participates in Long-Range Planning meetings in which the course, equipment and facilities are discussed.
  • Work closely with all other Senior Managers to communicate and provide support, work collectively as a team, to ensure the club operations are operating efficiently.
