Job Description:

Sunningdale Golf Club is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will assist in the management and maintenance of our pristine golf course, ensuring optimal playing conditions and enhancing the overall member experience. Responsibilities include supervising daily maintenance operations, irrigation system (Rainbird Cirrus), managing a skilled crew, implementing agronomic plans, and assisting with budgeting and inventory management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in turf management, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for the game of golf!

  • Irrigation Management - Oversee the irrigation system, managing schedules and troubleshooting to maximize water efficiency.
  • Seasonal Transitions - Prepare the course for seasonal transitions, implementing strategies to maintain turf health and playability.
  • Sustainability Practices - Promote environmentally sustainable practices in course maintenance, including pest control and landscaping initiatives.
  • Team Leadership - Lead and mentor grounds crew members, fostering teamwork and ensuring high standards of maintenance.
  • Equipment Knowledge - General knowledge of golf course equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in turf management, agronomy, horticulture, or related field.
  • Proven experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass management practices, irrigation systems, and agronomic principles.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead a team and interact with members and guests.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive approach to problem-solving, with a commitment to delivering exceptional course conditions.
  •  Valid driver's license and pesticide applicator license.
