The successful candidate will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and the management team to manage the Golf course with a focus on guest experience.

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will be energetic and enthusiastic, committed to long term career development within the industry. Positive, professional attitude with strong interpersonal skills that will allow you to be an integral member of the Turf Team to deliver a high level of playing conditions and guest experience. The successful candidate will lead 25+ turf team members. This is an ideal position for an individual looking to advance their career.

Qualifications:

The position reporting directly to The Golf Course Superintendent, and the Senior Assistant Superintendent. The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision and management of the Turf Team.  

We are seeking a candidate who has the following attributes: 

  • Working knowledge of golf course maintenance, proper use of various fertilizers, soil conditioners, herbicides and pest control methods and materials
  • Experience with Rain Bird irrigation systems is an asset
  • Knowledge of disease, insect and weed identification and full understanding of the Integrated Pest Management.
  • Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient use of team members and equipment
  • Prepare clear and precise memos/reports and to maintain effective employee and public relations.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Possession of a valid pesticide applicator’s license
  • Graduate of a recognized turf grass management program

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the planning and supervising the maintenance of the golf course and properties associated with Whistle Bear Golf Club.
  • Assists with scheduling of work and supervises team members ensuring safe use of all equipment.
  • Assists in rehiring and hiring of required team members
  • Responsible for the training, and orientation of team members
  • Supervises pesticide and fertilizer applications and/or operates and calibrates the application equipment.  Ensures proper record keeping
  • Participates in the operation and maintenance of the irrigation pumps and irrigation system
  • Delegates or ensures the needs of the maintenance facility are met and is kept clean and organized
  • Assists in personnel management and evaluation, team safety, corrective action and may also modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation.
  • Participate on the health and safety committee
  • Proper daily record keeping of activities and specific tasks

Period of Employment

  • Full-time year-round employment

Benefits and compensation:

  • Salary Range: 55,000 to 60,000
  • 3 weeks’ vacation
