Superintendent

Designed by architect Stephen Young (Grey Silo), Batteaux Creek opened for play in 2002, and covers over 250 acres. His design features manicured bent grass fairways, oversized true rolling greens, and hazards in the form of plentiful bunkers, naturalized areas, lakes, and ponds. These all conspire to create numerous risk/reward opportunities – and like all Young designs, playing for Bogey is a pretty safe path, but challenging the course for birdies often results in doubles or worse. The Superintendent will be responsible for all golf course and grounds maintenance. They will work in partnership with the Clubhouse Manager, and report directly to the GolfNorth Head Office. This is an excellent opportunity for a Superintendent who can work independently and to a budget. The Superintendent is responsible for all fertilizer and pesticide applications and will act as the course IPM Agent. First time Superintendents with managerial experience will be considered. GolfNorth Properties presently operates 41 golf properties, so there are significant opportunities for advancement within the company, as GolfNorth has a policy of promoting from within. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:

Education in Turfgrass Management or related field of study (or considerable practical experience)
Experience managing staff
Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
Ability to work within a budget
Experience in hiring, training, and replacing staff
Valid Pesticide Licence
IPM Agent status
Mechanical aptitude is a plus
