Term:  Full Time to December 31st, 2025  (Possible extension beyond December 31st, 2025 with the agreement of all parties).

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and hands-on skills relating to all aspects of golf course maintenance practices gained through operational experience.
  • Knowledge and familiarity of budgetary processes and is able to contribute to the Head Superintendents ongoing dynamic framework to address all financial aspects of the operational and capital requirements for the maintenance of the golf course.
  • Understands role and responsibilities and is a capable and will be a responsible departmental supervisor under the Head Superintendent and be a reliable member of the overall golf course management team.
  • A working knowledge or the ability to learn about the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and other relevant legislation as applicable to a supervisory role.
  • Posses a valid Landscape Exterminators License and is IPM accredited.
  • Mechanically inclined to be able to troubleshoot and remedy or arrange and expedite repairs in an efficient and cost-effective method.
  • A knowledge and understanding of the game of golf and the rules of competition.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills

Responsibilities:  

  • Assist in the creation and monitor a detailed annual budget to address the operational and capital needs of the golf course maintenance department, and on an ongoing basis, liaison with the Head Superintendent and course general manager to ensure revenues support expenditures.
  • Assist in creating proactive maintenance schedules for all necessary activities and functions required to maintain and improve all aspects of the golf course and facilities.
  • Take responsibility under the Head Superintendent for all equipment, supplies, fixtures and buildings used for turf and ground maintenance of the course. This includes acquisition, maintenance and end of season shutdown.
  • Provide environmental stewardship and sustainable maintenance practices. Complete IPM scouting and all activities associated with pesticide applications in accordance with provincial legislation. Maintain IPM accreditation by completing and submitting annual reports as required. Ensure the necessary CEC accreditation is obtained on an annual basis.
  • Be active in the recruitment and hiring of necessary staff, and provide proper orientation, training and ongoing supervision of employees dedicated to course maintenance. Engage staff with strict professionalism to maximize their potential and make efficient use of human resources. Ensure the employer and staff are following the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS and other legislation.
  • Maintain good communications with the Head Superintendent and General Manager and together plan all intrusive maintenance programs to minimize obstruction for players or events to the course.
  • Participate in planning meetings with the Head Superintendent to provide expertise to support projects and initiatives.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism when dealing with members, guests, employees, suppliers, media, social media and industry peers.

Salary:       Negotiable and based on experience
