The Beaumaris Yacht Club Golf Course Superintendent

The Beaumaris Yacht Club is a family-oriented private club on Lake Muskoka, dating back to the early 1900s. The Club is comprised of an 18 hole golf course, driving range , as well as tennis and pickleball courts.

Our current Golf Course Superintendent is retiring after a 25 year career at the Club and we are looking to hire a Superintendent that will pick up where he has left off and take the course through a number of improvements over the next decade.

The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and enhancement of the golf course and its grounds to ensure exceptional playing conditions and a visually appealing environment. This role involves overseeing turf management, landscaping, irrigation systems, and groundskeeping staff while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and budget constraints. The Superintendent will work closely with the management team to deliver a high-quality golfing experience for members and guests.

Position Description:

  • Participate in daily golf course maintenance with an emphasis on turf quality and playability.
  • Work within BYC’s team policy both internally and at the management level.
  • Practice and enforce all aspects of BYC's Golf Course Maintenance and Health & Safety Policy Manuals.
  • Assist with training of staff on all machinery, including safety procedures.
  • Act at the Club’s IPM Agent and maintain all required records
  • Lead, Schedule, and Participate in cultural agronomic practices
  • Supervise and manage the grounds crew for work on the course and overall grounds
  • Maintain buildings, equipment, and property in a professional manner.
  • Implement fertility and pesticide program and make applications
  • Thorough knowledge of irrigation systems, automated controls, and repairs.
  • Work with the General Manager to establish and maintain the operating budget

The Successful Applicant will:

  • Possess a minimum of 2 years formal education, or degree or diploma in turf management preferred.
  • Is available for work every day at discretionary hours.
  • Approach responsibilities in an organized and energetic manner.
  • Possess a valid Ontario Landscape Exterminators Licence.
  • IPM agent certification or willing to maintain prior to golf season
  • Chainsaw Operators certificate is an asset
