Cobble Beach Golf Links is located in Kemble ON, which is 10 minutes north of Owen Sound. We are a community based, award winning, four season resort that includes a Doug Carrick designed golf course overlooking beautiful Georgian Bay. The links style course is consistently rated within Score Golf’s Top 100 Courses in Canada. It’s an exciting time within the community as the second phase of residential construction is underway with phase three on the way. The addition of homes and members will continue to boast the Cobble Beach golf experience. Our Turf Department’s responsibilities extend into the year round maintenance of properties, community landscaping, tennis courts, an ice rink, a trail system and a 200ft dock that is situated next to Cobble Beach’s iconic lighthouse. The property is also host to the annual Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The Concours is an event that displays prestigious vehicles on the golf course to be admired and judged. Our Turf Department is instrumental in distributing hundreds of hours effectively to ensure proper execution of the Concours. Cobble Beach’s event resembles that of the world famous Pebble Beach Concours that overlooks the ocean.
Job Description
Cobble Beach is adding to its Turf Department in the form of Assistant Superintendent. The Assistant will be a senior member of the team and report directly to The Head Superintendent-Property Manager and The Associate Superintendent. The candidate will be an integral part of a team oriented department that takes great pride in their ability to consistently work together to produce exceptional playing conditions and property maintenance standards. The successful candidate will:
- Be an active, enthusiastic member of the team and operation
- Partake in all aspects of golf course maintenance and capital improvements
- Assist with required residential property maintenance/improvements and the upkeep of common amenities (tennis, beach club, dock, trails, parks, etc.)
- Be involved with the hiring, scheduling, motivation and evaluation of staff members
- Assist with fertilizer and pesticide applications
- Lead teams and carry out tasks in an efficient, safe and constructive manner
- Participate in our detailed record keeping program including agronomic calculators, accounting responsibilities, inventories, contracts, purchase orders, trials, etc.
- Utilize wit and foresight to assist in the unique, year round work load of the Cobble Beach Turf Department including winter snow removal operations which involves road contracts, lane way contracts, trail grooming and ice rink maintenance
Qualifications
- The successful candidate will, above all else; have integrity, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow each day
- Motivated problem solver with a desire to succeed
- A confident person who has proven leadership qualities
- Excellent communication skills – written, oral and listening
- Graduate of a recognized turfgrass management program
- Possess or willing to obtain an Ontario Landscape Exterminators Licence and a desire to obtain IPM agent status
- Valid Ontario G Licence
- Experience with operating light and heavy duty equipment
- Chainsaw licence and or experience is an asset
- Experience with Toro irrigation systems and its operating system is an asset
