Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Springfield Golf & Country Club, an 18-hole semi-private golf club established in 1989 in Guelph, is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. This opportunity arises as our longtime Golf Course Superintendent, Ray Duke, retires in December and passes the leadership of the course to his protégé. Our Turf Crew is fully supported by the course owner, General Manager, and all other staff – ensuring a fantastic working environment focused on consistently producing a high-quality course for our patrons.

Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Job Description:
Reporting to and working directly with the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant will be responsible for:

Continuous development of the IPM Program
Pesticide applications and calibrations
Fertilizer applications
Training of employees in the operation of all golf course equipment and Health and Safety Regulations
Daily record keeping of all cultural practices, fertilizer and pesticide applications, and irrigation cycles
Repair and monitoring of irrigation system
Hands-on work with the grounds crew on all golf course operations
Monitoring and motivating employees in a professional manner through personal work ethic and communication

Qualifications:

Diploma in Turf Management or equivalent experience
Valid Pesticide Applicators license
Valid driver’s license and vehicle
Minimum 1-year experience in pesticide applications and calibration'
Minimum 2 years’ experience in golf course operations'
Experience in irrigation repairs including PVC components and electric rotors
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Experience in RainBird Irrigation as asset
Valid chainsaw license an asset
