The Club at North Halton is a well-established private golf club located in the heart of Halton Hills. Our Turf Department is committed to innovative maintenance practices, sustainability, team development, and maintaining high agronomic standards across all playing surfaces.
We are seeking a passionate and driven AIT to join our dedicated Turf Care Team for the 2026 season. This position is ideal for turfgrass students or individuals pursuing a career in golf course management who want to gain in-depth, hands-on training in all areas of golf course maintenance.
The club has an exciting slate of improvements on the horizon, promising to elevate both the course and its operations. The planned widening of Trafalgar Road will require a full rebuild of four holes, offering a rare opportunity to re-imagine part of the course with modern design and playability in mind. In addition, the club is set to construct a new reservoir and a state-of-the-art turf shop, strengthening long-term sustainability and course conditioning. With groundbreaking anticipated for 2026/2027, members can look forward to a transformative period that will shape the club’s future for decades to come.
Position Summary
The AIT will work directly under the Management Team as an integrated member of the turf team. The AIT will be exposed to all aspects of golf course operations and will have opportunities to take ownership of select projects, lead small crews, and participate in planning discussions. This role provides a high-level educational experience designed to prepare candidates for assistant-level positions in the golf industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Course setup including changing hole locations, tee marker placement etc
- Participating in scouting for turf stress, disease pressure, and pest activity
- Assisting with data collection (soil moisture, clipping volume, firmness)
- Collaboration with the Equipment Manager to deepen understanding of reel maintenance
- Opportunity to lead small crews during routine tasks
- Attendance at management meetings to gain insight into planning and decision-making
- Daily monitoring of moisture levels using hand-held moisture meters
- Operation of central irrigation system for scheduling and adjustments
- Troubleshooting and repairing irrigation heads, valves, and leaks
- Spraying Greens, Tees, Fairways and other areas
Qualifications
- Ontario Landscape Exterminators License (or willing to obtain)
- Strong desire to build a career in the golf industry
- Valid driver’s license
