Assistant In Training

We are seeking a motivated, dependable, and career-driven individual for an Assistant Superintendent in Training position. This role is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their turfgrass management career and gain hands-on experience at a premier private golf club. The successful candidate will work closely with the Assistant Superintendents and Superintendent while playing an integral role in daily operations, and long-term planning.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily collaboration with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents
  • Participation in morning planning meetings and Green Committee meetings
  • Assisting with daily course setup to championship standards
  • Equipment setup, operation, and basic maintenance
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM), including fertilizer and chemical applications
  • Sod installation and seed establishment
  • Water management through hand watering and automated irrigation
  • Operation and maintenance of Toro irrigation systems, VP wireless satellites, and Lynx Central
  • Fescue management and cultural practices
  • Assisting with in-house projects and long-term improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a post-secondary Turfgrass Management program or equivalent education/certification in a related field (or working toward)
  • Strong leadership and reliability
  • Good organizational and communication skills 
  • Motivated and able to take initiative
  • Able to work in a team or alone
  • Valid Ontario landscape exterminator license or applicator license is an asset
