Assistant Superintendent

Forest City National Golf Club is a private 18 hole championship golf club located in London Ontario. The golf course is nestled on 275 picturesque acres hugging the southeast shore of Fanshawe Lake. 

 

Position Summary:
Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with the daily maintenance, agronomy, and management of the golf course grounds. Help supervise and train turf staff, support course preparation for play and events, and assist in irrigation, fertilizer, and chemical programs.

Key Responsibilities
• Support planning, supervision, and execution of daily maintenance operations (tees, greens, fairways, roughs).
• Supervise, train and provide a positive and safe working environment for staff members.
• Assist with irrigation systems operation, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Participate in turf fertility and pest control applications (with proper licensing).
• Maintain equipment and assist in mechanical upkeep.
• Assist in record-keeping, safety compliance, and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications
• Diploma or degree in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, or related field preferred. Candidates who have completed the Turf Managers Short Course will be considered.
• Experience in golf course maintenance and supervision.
• Valid Ontario Landscape Exterminators license, Valid IPM certification, chainsaw certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain).
• Knowledge of Toro SitePro irrigation system is an asset, but not required and knowledge of maintenance equipment and minor repairs.
• Excellent communication, attention to detail and leadership skills.
