Golf Course Superintendent

Sandusk Golf Club, is an 18 hole Par 70, 5,600 yard golf club built in 1978 and is located in between Jarvis and Hagersville on Highway # 3. The beautiful greens and lush fairways meander around the majestic Jacob’s Pond and Sandusk Creek.

Haldimand County and the surrounding area is one of the fastest growing centres in Southern Ontario. There are large developments in Caledonia, and Brantford and a new grand development of 15,000 homes to be located in Nanticoke, Ontario. Nanticoke is a 10 minute drive from the golf club.

Sandusk Golf Club is currently seeking a Golf Course Superintendent. The Superintendent is entrusted with the maintenance, operation, and management of the Golf Club. This person will be responsible for the planning and implementation of the agronomic plans, as well as training and supervision of the turf maintenance team as well as focusing on providing high-quality playing conditions.

This is a salaried position and will reporting directly to the Owner and the clubhouse manager. The individual should be positive, self-motivated, hardworking, team oriented and possess a keen eye for detail.

 

Qualifications:                 

  • Degree or Diploma in Turf Management from a recognized College or University
  • Experience as a Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent or have proven leadership experience at a golf club

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement staffing schedules as well as the supervision of employment activities for golf course maintenance, including recruitment, mentoring, training and performance evaluations
  • Supervise and lead in all course construction projects including revamping the practice green, rebuilding three tee areas and building the new training area.
  • Supervise the maintenance and repair of golf course equipment, including mowers, tractors, and other turf/construction tools.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue, enhance member satisfaction, and ensure the club's long-term success.
  • Develop and maintain a chemical application program in keeping with agronomic needs and within local and regional regulations. Maintaining detailed chemical application log as required by law.
  • Effectively operate and maintain the irrigation system.
  • Work with regulatory agencies to ensure the club is compliant with all policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Communicate with the Owner and Head Professional with regarding all golf course matters.
  • Participates in Long-range planning meetings in which the course, equipment, long term improvements and facilities are discussed.

 

Remuneration:

  • Competitive compensation package between $60,000 and $75,000 per annum that will be based on experience
