Position Overview
The Assistant Superintendent will play an active role in all aspects of golf course maintenance and agronomic operations. Working closely with the Senior Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent, this individual will gain hands-on experience in daily course setup, irrigation management, spray applications, cultural practices, and team leadership.
This role is designed for a driven professional looking to develop the skills necessary for future advancement within the golf course management profession.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in daily course preparation including mowing, rolling, bunker maintenance, hand watering, and detail work.

Support irrigation system management, including scheduling, troubleshooting, field repairs, and auditing.

Participate in fertilizer and plant protectant applications, including calibration, safe handling, and record keeping.

Monitor turf health and communicate observations with the Senior Assistant and Superintendent.

Assist the Senior Assistant Superintendent in planning and executing cultural practices.

Operate and maintain turf equipment safely and efficiently.

Assist the Senior Assistant Superintendent in the supervision and direction of staff as required.

Maintain detailed records of weather, applications, and agronomic programs.

Uphold a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.

Previous golf course maintenance experience preferred.

Working knowledge of irrigation systems and hand watering practices.

Valid Ontario driver’s license.

Ability to obtain or currently hold an Ontario Landscape Exterminator License.

Strong communication skills and a desire to grow within the turf management industry.

Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and extended seasonal hours.
