POSITION SUMMARY
To schedule and perform maintenance and repairs to all heavy equipment, vehicles and electric golf cart fleet used by Angus Glen employees and guests with minimum disruption and interference to the Greens department or Club operations in order that the golf course can be cost-effectively maintained to the expected standard.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Repairs and Maintenance
Schedules and performs preventive maintenance in a full automotive-style service area by troubleshooting and road-testing equipment on a predetermined service schedule, to reduce break downs, lost work time and to maintain safety systems and equipment value
Repairs and/or replaces faulty parts or systems by diagnosing the problem and determining the most cost-effective repair and suggesting alternatives to reduce costs to keep equipment operating as designed, while staying within budget and time constraints
Performs maintenance and repairs to anything mechanical on site in order to maintain the property and facilities is in good repair in a cost-effective manner
Ensures that all equipment is set-up and ready for each day by communicating with the Head Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents.
After learning of the work planned, prepare the equipment so that the Greens staff can immediately go to work when they need the equipment
Provides written and verbal training to staff either as a group or one on one, so that they are able to safely and effectively operate the equipment on the course
Moves equipment on to the course(s) for operators in the event of breakdowns or change of equipment needs in a timely manner
Recovers broken equipment from the course to ensure proper equipment is in place for Greens staff on a timely basis, so that the course does not have broken equipment on it and detracting from the guest experience
Performs snow removal in the winter months, including on weekends on a rotational basis at our Angus Glen location, so that Angus Glen can hold events during that period and staff can access their work areas
Purchasing/Inventory Management
Purchases needed parts and maintains an inventory of often-used parts with a budget approved by the Head Superintendent so that equipment needing repair can be returned to operation on a timely basis
Maintains Turf Prophit records of service and repairs, equipment inventory, and fuel usage so that maintenance costs can be assessed
Greets and offers directions to guests that are encountered while performing duties of the job so that the guest receives superior service from all staff encountered
Works with superintendent on capital purchasing.
Performs other related duties as assigned
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Grade 12 or equivalent
Minimum 5 (five) years as an automotive mechanic or mechanic working on golf equipment
Good knowledge of the following:
Gas and Diesel Engine Diagnostics
Hydraulics
Automotive Electrical
Reel Grinding
Welding
Computer diagnostics
Technical updates
Warranty claims procedures
Good communication, organizational and prioritization skills
Ability to meet deadlines
Team player
Hand co-ordination
Positive, enthusiastic demeanor
Ability to remain calm in rapidly changing conditions
Health & Safety

Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations and the Club’s Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Use or wear any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by the club.
Report to your manager/supervisor any known equipment or protective device that may be dangerous, missing, or defective.
Report any known workplace hazard or violation of the Act or regulations to your manager/supervisor.
Report all accidents, illness, or “near miss” incidents to your manager/supervisor immediately.
Do not remove or disable any protective device.
Handle hazardous substances according to the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System regulations.
Work safely and not use or operate any equipment in a way that may endanger any worker.
Do not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, running or rough and boisterous conducts which may jeopardize their safety or the safety and well-being of others.
Work in compliance with the OHSA, specifically section 28.
