Located just north of Stouffville on Hwy #48, Royal Stouffville Golf Course is a 27-hole semi-private facility with an 18-hole Championship course and a 9-hole Executive course. The 18-hole course measures 6625 yards from the back tees and is challenging for all skill levels. The 9-hole Executive course is ideal for beginners, juniors, and seniors.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Superintendent who will play an active roll in all aspects of golf course maintenance and agronomic operations. This individual will support and report directly to the Superintendent, and assist in daily course set up, irrigation management, spray/fertilizer applications, cultural practices, and staff management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in daily course preparation including mowing, rolling, bunker maintenance, hand watering, and detail work.
- Monitoring and identifying turf grass diseases and pests across all surfaces, ensuring the health and optimal playing conditions on greens, tees, fairways, rough, and bunkers.
- Help configure watering plans as well as troubleshooting and making field repairs to the irrigation system.
- Assist in the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and all other turf management products laid out by the Superintendent.
- Detailed record-keeping of all fertilizers, pesticides, and turf management products.
- Assist in the training and supervision of staff on equipment, ensuring all tasks are completed properly, safely, and in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a post-secondary Turfgrass Management Program, Turf Managers Short Course or 2+ years’ experience in golf course maintenance in a supervisory role.
- Must have a valid Landscape Exterminators License
- Certified IPM agent or willingness to obtain
- Knowledge of the Toro Lynx Irrigation Program and E-Osmac satellite boxes an asset
- Ability to operate, and knowledge of maintaining a variety of turf equipment
- Valid Driver’s License
