Assistant Superintendent

Wooden Sticks Golf Club is a premier daily fee public/resort facility situated in Uxbridge, Ontario, approximately 45 minutes northeast of Toronto. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that 8 of the 18 holes are inspired by famous golf landscapes from around the world, notably St. Andrews, TPC Sawgrass, and Augusta. Annually, Wooden Sticks hosts 30,000 rounds from 20,000 unique visitors. Our play is comprised of daily fee golfers, golf groups, Stay & Play groups, and corporate events.

 

Position Summary

The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and 2nd Assistant in overseeing the daily set-up of the golf course and play a key leadership role within the Greens department.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and lead in all daily golf course operations and cultural practices
  • Assist with recruitment, training, coaching, and daily supervision of staff
  • Daily assessment and communication with the Golf Course Superintendent regarding course conditions, irrigation requirements, and team performance
  • Application of fertilizers and plant protectants
  • Assist with irrigation system scheduling, troubleshooting, repairs, and auditing
  • Maintain detailed records of all applications and cultural practices
  • Ensure a safe, organized, and professional work environment

 

Qualifications

  • Degree/diploma/certificate from a recognized Turf Management Program and/or related experience
  • Previous experience in a leadership role
  • Possess a valid Landscape Exterminator’s License
  • Possession of the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) certification (or able to obtain)
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

 

Compensation

  • Base Salary $70,000 - $75,000
