Second Assistant Superintendent

Kaneff Golf’s Flagship Golf Course, Lionhead Golf Club & Conference Centre, consists of 2 Championship Golf Courses: Legends and Masters. Carved into 520 acres of inspired natural terrain with meadows, wetlands, forest, and the Credit River running through it.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to join our Turf Team as Second Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. You will work closely with both Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent gaining exposure in the management of all aspects of golf course maintenance. Daily Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in planning and supervision of all golf course maintenance.
  • Make recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent on the daily condition of the golf courses.
  • Practice and enforce all aspects of Kaneff Golf Maintenance and Health & Safety Policy Procedures.
  • Assist in training and coaching all staff on each piece of equipment and/or machinery, including safety procedures.
  • Assist, educate, train and encourage team members to accomplish daily/weekly goals in a timely manner.
  • Maintain buildings, equipment, machinery and property in a professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records as part of the agronomic and IPM programs.
  • Calibrate, apply and regularly contribute to pesticide, fertilizer and agronomic management practices.
  • Assist and maintain water management and scheduling to irrigation systems including automated controls, repairs and hand watering. 

Qualifications: 

  • Worked on a golf course for a minimum of three years. 
  • Graduated or enrolled in a recognized turf management program. 
  • Available for work weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Capable of working in all weather conditions.
  • Approach responsibilities in an organized and energetic manner. 
  • Possess or willing to obtain (within 60 days) valid Ontario Landscape Exterminators License.
  • Possess or willing to obtain IPM Accreditation.
  • Proven leadership and effective communicator and motivator. 
  • Desire to advance in the turf industry.
  • Maintain a positive working environment and drive for continuous improvement.
